Frades or Pink Escallonia

This is a large, upright evergreen shrub with oval, toothed, shiny leaves, 3/4in long and pale underneath.

In the summer it bears panicles to 3in long. The flowers can be white or pink which are 1/2in across. Grows to about 10ft tall.

Native to South America, principally Chile.
