(KLYE-vi-uh  min-i-AYE-tuh)
Kaffier Lily

It is an evergreen, narrowleaf, indoor or outdoor plant. Medium to rapid growth. Gets 2-3ft. tall and 2-3ft. wide. Likes shade to half shade. Tender to 25-30 degrees.

Genus of 4 species of evergreen perennials from low-lying woodland areas, often by streams, in South Africa. They have swollen, bulb-like bases and are grown for their arching, narrowly lance-shaped to strap-shaped, dark green, basal leaves and robust, tubular to trumpet-shaped flowers. Grow in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade. Established clivias resent root disturbance and need a restricted root run to encourage flowering.

C. miniata bears large umbels of up to 20 semi-pendent, open tubular to funnel-shaped, yellow, red or orange flowers from spring to late summer. All parts of this plant may cause mild stomach upset if eaten and the sap may irritate skin.
